1000 Words

This week in 1000 Words we have a neat picture of a talented, but largely forgotten, novelist. Barrett Willoughby wrote over a dozen novels, usually set in her native Alaska, and they were all best sellers. Her 25 year career began in 1924 in The American Magazine, which featured her life story of growing up in a schooner in Alaska. It ran the great photo of her below, with the caption.
