One of the more confusing pieces of old New York metal is the G.H. Bacon spoon. I found an ad recently that helps us to better understand this bait, from the 22 June 1901 Forest & Stream magazine. It advertises the new "Bacon" spinner, patented 10 July 1900. Note it was made in two styles (double and single spinner) and in copper, nickel, and brass (and comvbinations of the two). Of greatest importance is that it notes that William Mills & Son were "sole manufacturers" of this bait. So it's a neat 108 year old metal spinner that was offered for approximately 15 years.

Hello - I just bought an old fly fishing lot at auction and it has one of these lures still in the package. Mine has a silver and brass spoon. Just thought it was interesting and I can't seem to find any other information on them.
