A Great Loss for the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Region

On 21 June 2007, the tri-state area of Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana lost one of its great proponents of outdoor sports when James Richard Markesbery passed away at the age of 55 in Cincinnati. Markesbery is perhaps best known for having founded Markesbery Muzzle Loader Inc., of Florence, Kentucky, but he also invented a popular walleye spinner known as "The Kentucky Spinner" and fished on a number of local and national fishing shows, including Fishing With Roland Martin.

He was one of the Commonwealth of Kentucky's most dedicated walleye fishermen--which he pursued at the professional level--and constantly promoted Kentucky walleye fishing. In addition to his many accomplishments, Markesbery collected antique fishing lures and reels in his spare time. His obituary is available on-line by the Cincinnati Enquirer.
